About The Role The Packaging Mechanical Engineer is part of the magniX engineering team responsible for mechanical design and development of the inverters which will be used in electric propulsion systems. The role involves working within a collaborative Integrated Product Team environment while being responsible for multiple independent tasks.
Primary Responsibilities - 3D modeling, creating detailed drawing packages with GD&T using SolidWorks or similar software, effectively integrating design for manufacturing and assembly (DFMA) and design for testing (DFT)
- Collaborate with electronics hardware team to develop PCBA design that meets various structural and thermal requirements.
- Create design, conduct analysis/testing, and write reports justifying various design elements of the inverters, including high voltage electrical isolation, environmental protection, structural stress capability, thermal management, sealing, interconnections, shock, and vibration management.
- Manage entire test life cycle, including developing test plans and procedures, collaborating with internal testing team or external testing companies to execute the test and write detailed test reports.
- Develop internal guidelines and standards for special processes as required for the inverter.
- Collaborate with external manufacturing companies to fabricate components and support the internal engineering prototype builds.
Qualification - BS degree in Mechanical or Aerospace engineering, with 5+ years of experience.
- Minimum 2 years of design experience in electronic component enclosures or similar
- Experience designing packaging for high voltage (> 600 V) electronic assembly preferred
- Experience with 3D modelling, GD&T, PLM systems, engineering changes, deviations, BOM structuring, etc.
- In-depth understanding of material science, surface coatings and component fabrication processes.
- Working knowledge of ICEPAK, ANSYS, and other analysis tools.
- Experience with environmental, reliability, safety, and industry-standard requirements for aerospace products (DO-160, ARP4754A, etc.)
- Understanding electrical design fundamentals is a plus.
- Familiarity with PCBAs and PCBA components
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and thrive in a complex product development environment with multiple changing priorities.
Location - Applicants must be willing and able to commute to magniX's location in Everett, Washington. Relocation is not offered for this role.

This position's approximate base salary range is $117,000 - $133,000 per year, depending on years of experience and level of education.
