The Department of Neuroscience and Regenerative Medicine is charged with conducting high-impact original biomedical research and translating the findings to clinical applications, and in educating future physicians and researchers. Our research addresses fundamental questions in basic and translational neuroscience, particularly in neuronal degeneration and regeneration.

Job Summary

Participate in research data collection and documentation within relevant guidelines and protocols; develop and evaluate new research techniques and procedures. Perform a variety of complex chemical, biological, cytologic, microscopic, histologic, surgical, statistical/computational and dissection procedures. Plan experiments independently and develop research protocols while ensuring adherence to accepted scientific research principles and compliance with relevant federal guidelines. Conduct taste regeneration and/or Ace2 experiments. Analyze results of experiments and procedures, troubleshoot new protocols, and perform immunoassays, molecular assays, cryosectioning.

Responsibilities

The duties include, but are not limited to:

Plan experiments independently and develop research protocols while ensuring adherence to accepted scientific research principles and compliance with relevant federal guidelines.

Conduct taste regeneration and/or Ace2 experiments.

Analyze results of experiments and procedures, troubleshoot new protocols, and perform immunoassays, molecular assays, and cryosectioning.

Perform other duties and lab maintenance (e.g. make solutions) as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology or other natural, life, health care or materials science directly related to the research area to which the position is assigned and experience in a research, basic science or clinical setting particularly clinical trials research.
OR
Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology or other natural, life, health care or materials science directly related to the research area to which the position is assigned and a minimum of three years' experience in a research, basic science or clinical setting particularly clinical trials research.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in microscopy, fluorescence imaging, and behavioral testing. Experience with participating on publications.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases. Knowledge of microscopy, fluorescence imaging and behavioral testing. Proficient knowledge of neuroscience, biochemistry and cell and molecular biology.

SKILLS

Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. Detail-oriented with strong organizational and prioritization skills.

ABILITIES

Ability to maintain confidentiality, complete work, and meet deadlines. Willingness and ability to work with research animals. Ability to work independently with only general supervision.

Shift/Salary/Benefits

Shift: Days; Monday - Friday (Work outside of normal business hours may be required).

Pay Band: B5

Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position.
